Obituary

Cleida Marie (Cushing) Buckley, 84, of Cohasset passed away peacefully at home on August 10 with her family at her side after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Cleida was actively selfless in every aspect of her life from her unwavering faith to eternal devotion to her family and continuous spirit of service. Cleida was lovingly married to her high school sweetheart, Jack, for over 60 years. She was wholeheartedly devoted to him and their 6 beloved children and 19 grandchildren. She radiated her goodness through her teachings of loving God, serving the less fortunate, and the value of family. Cleida was born to Joseph and Alice Cushing of Weymouth on August 2, 1938. She graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1956 and Emmanuel College in 1960. She was the nurturing mother to Michael (Lisa) of Scituate, Maureen (James Wirth) of Petaluma, CA, Jeanine Perrone (Marc) of Cohasset, Peter (Lisa) of Cohasset, Liz Kondrat (Chris) of Cohasset, and Justin (Kelvie) of Seattle, WA. She was a devoted grandmother of Hannah, Sam, Adam, James, Audrey, Kevin, Jillian, Ryan, Andrew, Oliver, Cole, Bridget, Payton, Ian, Christian, Jack, Kellan, George, and Clara. She also leaves behind many cherished Buckley and Cushing family members including her sister Alicia Flaherty of Humarock and sister-in-law Carole Cushing of Concord. In addition, she was predeceased by her siblings Joseph Cushing of Concord and Claire Williams of Johnstown, PA. Anyone who knew her or any of her loved ones knows they were the center of her universe and she was the center of theirs. Her devotion to each and every one of them made a big family feel small and all her relationships were meaningful. Cleida had dear lifelong friends who filled her days with tremendous joy. She valued her time with her loved ones through countless Sunday mornings filled with laughter, love, and her widely coveted baked goods. Once her children reached adulthood, Cleida continued her career as a teacher at Derby Academy, leading to cherished memories and relationships. Her legacy will forever live on through the countless hearts she has touched and the lives she has impacted. Cleida valued her faith as a primary pillar in her life. In order to honor this value, we ask that in lieu of flowers, please offer prayers on her behalf. Donations in her memory may be made to Catholic Relief Services. Visitation to be held at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset on Tuesday, August 16 from 4-7 pm. A funeral will follow at St. Anthony's in Cohasset at 10 am on Wednesday, August 17. Interment at Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
