Dana M. Oman, 82, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Linda (Malm) Oman.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on September 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Francis G. Oman and Harriet (Matthews) Oman. Dana grew up in Weymouth and later Hingham. He was a 1961 graduate of Hingham High School.

Dana went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business management from Northeastern University and continued his studies at Boston University and Harvard University. Over the course of his distinguished career he managed the development and implementation of information management systems, specializing in power utilities. He was employed by several firms, including General Dynamics and Stone & Webster. He later founded his own company, the Granite Group, serving as its president, and went on to work for Indus International (now Ventex). He was a member and past president of NIRMA (Nuclear Information & Records Management Association).

Dana had a talent for gardening and landscape design, creating beautiful terraced landscapes and water gardens at his home. He and Linda enjoyed travel, and delighted in entertaining and hosting summer gatherings for family and friends. He was an avid reader, a history buff, and a lover of classical music. Above all, he enjoyed being at home with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda, he is survived by his loving daughters, Vicki Oman of Plymouth, and Melissa Lowell and her husband Arthur of Middleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Sadie and Seth Lowell of Middleboro. He was the dear brother of Karen A. Oman of East Sandwich, and Constance M. Winter and her husband Robert of Kingston. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are most warmly invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, beginning with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the MCNAMARA-SPARRELL FUNERAL HOME, 30 Central Street, Norwell.
