David Earle Gredler, a longtime resident of Norwell, Ma, died on August 28, 2011 at the age of 84. Born in 1927 in Ithaca, NY, to his late parents; Reverend Hazel Rogers Gredler and Reverend Frank S. Gredler, he was the youngest of three boys and is survived by his brothers Charles R. Gredler of Culpeper, VA and Gilbert R. Gredler of Columbia, South Carolina.
A graduate from Northeastern University, David's 32- year career as an editor at the Boston Globe followed previous years working as writer, deskman, photographer and city editor at the Cape Cod Standard Times. In recent years, David's passion for music, poetry, composing, instrument building and photography became fulltime endeavors.
He is survived by his three children Richard W. Gredler and his wife Ann of Lakeville, MA, Matthew H. Gredler and his wife, Jean of Yarmouth, ME and Lisa E. Morison of Bath, ME., as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grand and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate David's life will be held at the First Parish Church, 24 River Street, Norwell, MA Saturday October 15th at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place later in the day.
