David Bell Ingram, age 93 of Hingham, formerly of Foxboro and Mansfield, died July 2, 2014.

He was the beloved husband of 68 years of Elizabeth (Penrose) Ingram; loving father of David Penrose Ingram (Natick) and his wife, Ann, Elizabeth Falconer Ingram (Akron, Ohio), and Stephen Mark Ingram (Cohasset) and his wife, Linda. He was the cherished grandfather of Emily MacDonald, Caitlin MacDonald Grospitch and her husband, Gregory, Katharine MacDonald, and Ryan Ingram and her fiancé, Christopher D'Ambrosio.

A 1942 graduate of Harvard College, he served in the US Army and US Army Reserves achieving the rank of Major. He was an early CFA charter holder, an investment counselor with David L. Babson & Co. Inc. and active in many investment organizations. He was a voracious reader, avid bookbinder, book collector and craftsman. His passion was historical research focused on cannon, New England iron foundries and 18th century New Englanders. He was a member and former proprietor of The Boston Athenaeum and a member of many historical organizations. He befriended and eagerly corresponded around the world with many who shared his research interests. He was a former trustee of Anatolia College in Greece. He was active on many town boards and commissions in Mansfield and Foxboro.

An autumn celebration of his life and burial in Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro is planned.
