Obituary

David Raymond Ronan of Cohasset, MA passed away at home surrounded by family on August 23, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.

Born and raised in Fall River, MA, David graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1969. He was the son of the late Alda B. (Audet) and Raymond T. Ronan.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Nadine A. (Rose) Ronan. He was the proud father of Katherine R. Ronan of Cohasset, MA and Meredith V. Sheehan and her husband Michael J. of Methuen, MA. David was the cherished Gramps of Austin C. Ronan of Cohasset, MA and Claire N. and Zachary M. Sheehan both of Methuen, MA.

He is also survived by his brother Stephen Ronan of Berkeley, CA, as well as sisters-in-law Karla (Jim) Watts, Velma Ann (Kevin) Begley all of Cohasset, Dr. Dorene Petrosky of Dover DE, and Alda Ronan of Hercules CA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Dr. Michael Ronan of Hercules, CA and brothers-in-law Charles Rose of Cohasset, and Dr. Bernard Petrosky of Dover, DE.

David worked at General Dynamics in Quincy and moved to Cohasset in 1978, where he met Nadine, and they married in 1979. David and Nadine raised their daughters and made their home in Cohasset, MA, where they've stayed for 46 years. Their three grandchildren were the center of his universe, bringing him so much joy and happiness.

After many years as a local carpenter / builder, David made the switch to commercial construction management until his retirement in 2012. He was most proud of his builder's licenses from the cities of Quincy and Boston. When travelling through Boston he often pointed out the buildings he had worked on.

David was also a member of the Konohassett Masonic Lodge for 43 years.

In the summer, he loved vacationing on Cape Cod, especially in Sandwich. At home, he tended to his vegetable garden with great care and pride—often harvesting zucchini so large they could rival a baseball bat. David also loved photography, capturing life's beauty through his lens, and stargazing, finding happiness and wonder beneath the night sky.

He lived life with a spark that was impossible to miss. A lover of great music, he always had a soundtrack playing—whether it was a favorite old tune, or a new discovery shared with family and friends. His quick wit and laughter were the kind that filled a room, lifting spirits and reminding everyone that joy could be found in the simplest of moments.

Reading was another constant in David's life. He especially enjoyed reading the newspaper – often purchasing one from the city or town he visited on vacation, and requesting one from a trip one of his family members went on.  David also had a need for speed. Whether behind the wheel, on the water, or simply chasing the next adventure, he embraced the thrill of living boldly and encouraged his children and grandchildren to do the same.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, warmth, and unwavering love of family.

Visitation will be held with services in David's honor on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 2-4pm at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA. A Funeral Service will promptly begin at 4PM.   Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
