David H. Wadsworth, age 84, of Cohasset, passed away on Jan. 24, 2015. A lifetime resident of Cohasset, he graduated from Cohasset High School and from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Son of the late Dorothy N. and Jerome F. Wadsworth, he is survived by his brother, Edward N. Wadsworth, his sister in law, Suzanne M. Wadsworth of Cohasset, and two nephews, Peter N. Wadsworth of San Francisco, CA., and Nathaniel B. Wadsworth of Boston, MA. David was active in town activities over his entire life. He served as an officer of, and as an enthusiastic participant in a number of productions of the Cohasset Dramatic Club, both as an actor and in back stage roles. David traced his ancestry to many of the early families of Cohasset. This interest in his forbearers led him to what became his abiding passion, which was Cohasset history. For many years he served, first as curator, and then as historian of the Cohasset Historical Society. In these, roles, he authored numerous articles on various aspects of town history. He also served as an author of the "Images of America" volume on Cohasset as Town Archivist. As a member of the Cohasset Historic Commission, he researched and processed several hundred applications for Cohasset properties for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. This effort, practically unique in its comprehensive scope in Massachusetts, records historic local properties as they are and as they evolve over time. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. Please consider making a donation in is honor to the Cohasset Historical Society.
