Deborah S. Hennessey
1949 – 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Deborah S. Hennessey, age 76, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, who passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital on June 2, 2026, following a short illness.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Deborah was the third child of Lawrence Fuller Scofield and Alice Montague Scofield. She spent her early years in Malden and later lived in Plymouth & Westwood before making Marshfield her cherished home.
Deborah was a woman of remarkable intelligence, determination, and compassion. A graduate of Bentley University, she built an accomplished career dedicated to advancing healthcare and medical research. She spent more than twenty years with the Epidemiology Research Institute of Massachusetts, followed by fifteen years with United HealthCare. Her entrepreneurial spirit later led her to establish her own medical research consulting firm, Whiscon, with her business partner Alec Walker where she continued to make meaningful contributions to the field.
In the final chapter of her professional life, Deborah pursued her lifelong passion for horses and the outdoors. For the past sixteen years, she proudly owned and operated Dreamfield Farm, LLC in Marshfield, creating a place of beauty, hard work, and lasting memories for family and friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John E. Hennessey Jr. ("Jack"); her brother, Lawrence Scofield survived by wife Suzanne Scofield ; and her sister, Pamela Torpey survived by husband William Torpey .
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sister, Janet Lezberg; her children, Christopher Hennessey and his wife, Simone Hennessey, and Ryan Hennessey and his wife, Megan Hennessey; and the memory of her late son, Jeffrey Hennessey.
She was a devoted grandmother to Kailey Hennessey, Jackson Hennessey, and Cameron Hennessey, and a proud great-grandmother to Beckett Stearns, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Deborah was also a beloved aunt to Stephanie Psenicka, Heather Scofield, Erin Torpey, Matthew Torpey, Alex Picca and Lauren Czarnota, and she held a special place in the hearts of many extended family members and dear friends.
Those who knew Deborah will remember her adventurous spirit, unwavering strength, and love of life. She was an avid skier and horseback rider who found happiness in the outdoors and at the farm she loved so dearly. She treasured time spent attending music concerts with dear friend John Morelli creating memories filled with laughter, companionship, and joy. Above all, Deborah's greatest pride was her family, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved.
Her warmth, wisdom, resilience, and generous heart touched countless lives. While her family mourns her loss, they take comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the people she loved, the work she accomplished, and the countless memories she leaves behind.
In lieu of formal services, a private family memorial will be held at Dreamfield Farm, Deborah's favorite place and the home she lovingly created for her family. The family asks that those who knew and loved her honor her memory by embracing the people they cherish, spending time outdoors, and finding joy in the simple moments that made Deborah's life so meaningful.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
