Diane Margaret Maloney Dunbar

Diane Margaret Maloney Dunbar died peacefully on September 12, 2026, where she joins her beloved husband, Bob, of 65 years. Born June 12, 1937, to Patrick Joseph Maloney and Beatrice Daniels Maloney in Fitchburg, MA, Diane was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg, MA and attended Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. Diane’s life adventure truly began when she met Robert Norman Dunbar, Jr. After a short courtship, Diane and Bob married on June 11, 1960, and set off to Georgia where Bob was serving in the US Army. They moved back to Massachusetts and eventually settled in Scituate where they lived for over 50 years. Diane leaves her children, Michael Dunbar and his wife Susan, Caroline Dunbar Tracy and her husband Peter, and Suzanne Dunbar Fennelly and her husband Daniel as well as her grandchildren Melissa Dunbar Lee and her husband Ryan, Maxwell Dunbar and his fiancé Amy Haskell, Eric Tracy, Alexandra Buonocore and her husband Chris, Samuel Fennelly, and her great-granddaughter Cameron Olivia Lee. She also leaves her sister Patricia Maloney Doucette and husband Richard as well as nieces and nephews and countless friends. Diane treasured her family first and foremost and loved traveling the world with Bob and her children and grandchildren. Diane donated her time as a Library Trustee, Scituate By-Law Review Commission, Scituate Beautification Commission, Scituate Welcome Wagon and was a member of The League of Women Voters. She loved her New England Patriots, sailing on Scituate Harbor, spending time with her dear friends and neighbors, working in her garden, and of course, Neil Diamond. We would like to acknowledge the love and care she received from Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center and Croi Health, formerly NVNA.

A Graveside Service will be held at Groveland Cemetery in Scituate, MA on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00am followed by a Celebration of Life at The Mill Wharf Restaurant, Scituate Harbor, MA. All are welcome.

Donations can made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460 or Croi Health Charitable Fund, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
