IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald
Bongarzone
June 1, 1934 – March 5, 2025
Donald Bongarzone passed peacefully on March 5, 2025. Donald was born in Dorchester on June 1, 1934 to Joseph and Lucy Keefe. After his parents passed at a young age, he was adopted by his Aunt and Uncle Libero and Gertrude Bongarzone and joined his sister Judy in Scituate where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Scituate High School.
After high school he enlisted in the Airforce and served in the USAF Strategic Air Command at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana and Loring AFB in Limestone Maine. Greg Bell who grew up in Limestone and a life long friend said " Thousands and thousands of airmen have come thru Loring Air Force base but 50 years later there's only one of them who Aroostock County locals remember by name, and that was Donald".
After he left the service, Donald settled back in Scituate with his family. He joined the Scituate police Department and began his career in law enforcement. Eventually he joined the Norwell Police department and after a long and respected career, he retired as the rank of Detective Sargent. He originated the Southeastern Massachusetts Detectives Association and worked with other law enforcement agencies and was a member of the South Shore drug task force. He retired from his career in law enforcement and moved with his wife Margo to Naples Florida to enjoy their retirement. Not one to sit around he started a new power washing business servicing homes and vehicles "Bongi's Pressure Wash". He also worked at the Naples Airport for several years. He and Margo enjoyed their retirement, their friends and their family. Donald was avid fisherman and enjoyed his time trying to catch the big one. He was well known and respected everywhere he went. He took pride in his career and his family. He and Margo built a great life together and her passing eight weeks earlier was difficult for him. There is solace that they are together again.
