Donald J. Nelson- age 84, of Scituate, formerly of Hanover and Newport, RI, died October 12, 2012. Devoted husband of Imelda "Mel" (Hemmer) and loving father of Commander Derek A. Nelson, U.S.N and his wife Brandee of Virginia, Paul and his wife, Elizabeth of California. Brother of Jean Rowe and husband Lee of CA., the late Michael Nelson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Retired, New England Telephone Co. Don participated in the Hope Study Program at Boston Univ. Alzheimers Disease Center. US Navy Veteran, World War II.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 1 pm in Cudworth Cemetery, Cudworth Rd., Scituate. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at 11 am in Bedford Veterans Hospital Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory may be made to the Bedford VA Hospital, GRECC Program, Unit 62 CD, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA. 01730.
