IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Charlotte
(Train) Golden
April 24, 1931 – July 7, 2025
Doris Charlotte Train Golden (ChooChoo) 94 of Cohasset, died peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2025.
Born to the late Assunta (DeGeorge) and Charles Train in Cambridge. Doris grew up in Waban. The family summered in Green Harbor where Doris met the love of her life John A. (Jack) Golden Jr. when she was a young girl.
Doris and Jack settled in Cohasset on the affectionately named Golden Pond raising their two daughters, Karen and Cari.
She adored her daughters but was mothering to many…even the nursing home nurses taking care of her or the random stranger who she would spontaneously invite to have dinner with her family.
Doris spent seven years on the Cohasset School Committee and volunteered with many civic organizations and charities.
She was a lifelong artist, perpetually creating works that included paintings, decoupage, quilting, needlepoint, sewing, and knitting, as well as designing and manufacturing various tile tables.
Every family member received beautiful Aran & Icelandic sweaters, birdhouses and craft items.
Doris attended Mt. Alvernia where she was voted basketball captain even though she was 5'2". She was voted senior class President at Mt. Ida. At a young age, Doris learned the importance of friendships which she carried her whole life.
Doris was a food lover with a soft spot for grapenut ice cream and key lime pie; she made the best meatballs and spare ribs.
She was a founding member of the "Gourmet Club" which morphed after 45 years into Birthday Girls who gathered with their lunch bags for a five-hour laugh-filled lunch celebrating their 80+ birthdays.
Doris is survived by daughters Karen Oronte (Stephen), Doris Cari Golden Teal (Bruce). Sister Beverly Lind and brother Charles Train (Ilona).
Five grandchildren, John Oronte (Johanna Tvedt), Emerson Oronte (Kristen Metherd), Robert Teal (Kathleen), Caroline Teal (Jordan Diedrich) and Rebecca Teal (Carson Hall). Additionally, five great grandchildren Emma Oronte, Mia Oronte, Oskar Oronte, Oliver Oronte and Henry Teal. Nieces Lauren Kolb, Suzette Trifero and Michelle Davis.
She was predeceased by sisters Janette Antonellis and twin Charlotte Train.
The family would like to thank two amazing women who were her compassionate companions Sheila Coady and Maggie Moy.
