Dorothea Orchard of Scituate died peacefully on March 2, 2011. Daughter of Elizabeth and Michael Murphy, wife of the late Robert Orchard, sister of Rosemary Price of Georgia, and of the late Marie Murphy, Joseph Murphy, and Clare Peers. Beloved mother of Anne Eichert of Georgia, Robert Orchard of New York, Mary Miller of Massachusetts, and William Orchard of New Jersey. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.

Dottie graduated from St. John's High School in North Cambridge and was a graduate and organist for St. Peter's Grammar School in Cambridge. Dorothea belonged to the Alter Rosary Society at St. Paul's in Highland Park, NJ for 28 years and St. Mary's Guild in Scituate.

Visiting hours Friday, March 4 from 6 to 8 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center.

If desired, donations in Dorothea's memory may be made to the Scituate Senior Center or the Scituate Public Library

Service Information

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity, Scituate Harbor.
