IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy E.
(Skoglund) Myers
May 8, 1935 – September 10, 2025
Dorothy Elizabeth Myers (Skoglund) of Cohasset passed away on September 10th, 2025 at the age of 90 after a brief illness.
"Dotty" will be lovingly remembered by her son Stephen and his wife Amanda, and her "darling boys" – her grandsons Owen and Zachary Myers. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas J. Myers, Jr. and by her oldest son, Timothy J. Myers, whom she and Tom loved, supported, and provided an amazing life to until his death in 1995. She will also be deeply missed her endless extended modern family that brought Dotty so much joy and laughter, and so many smiles and memories, through countless family gatherings in her later years.
Dotty was born in Georgetown, CT in 1935. She was the 5th child of Victor and Elna Skoglund who emigrated to the U.S. from Sweden in 1929. She grew up surrounded by many Swedish family and friends in Georgetown and was lucky to be able to travel to Sweden many times in her life. She took pride in maintaining her connection to Sweden and Swedish culture, and would ensure her own future family would share that connection as well. Dotty graduated from Danbury High School in 1953 and went on to attend Danbury State College where she eventually earned an Associate's degree to support her career as a Medical Technician. Dotty moved to Boston and worked at the Robert Breck Brigham hospital (now Brigham & Women's) for several years before meeting Tom and marrying in 1961.
Dotty and Tom eventually settled in Cohasset, MA – the town that Dotty would call home for the final 62 years of her life – to raise their family. She cherished her early neighbors from Tupelo Rd. who became lifelong friends – Betty and JoAnne would always top the list. She was an athlete and avid tennis player for years, patrolling the Cohasset Tennis Club as well as countless neighborhood courts with her partner Bev. She continued her Med Tech career and spent more than 35 years working in Cohasset for Dr. Pompeo. But she took the most pride from being a mom to her two sons and to all of the kids who might stroll into the house over the years. Dotty left a mark on so many people throughout her life simply by being kind and cheerful and ready to welcome you in, no matter who you were. Many, many people will find a little hole in their hearts this week now that Dotty is gone.
