Dwight Sidney Stimson, Jr., the innovative founder of HOSTAR Marine, died on May 29, 2012 at home overlooking the North River in Norwell, MA, with his loving family and dog Bear at his bedside. Growing up in Vermont he was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and Middlebury College. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and worked for General Electric, Texas Instruments, Factory Mutual, and Vermont Castings before starting HOSTAR in 1985. An accomplished skier, Dwight served on the National Ski Patrol and enjoyed sports, cooking, boating and many other things in life.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Patricia (Blake), his three children Blake (and partner Elise Archias), Shelby (and husband Brian Johansson), and Dwight, III (and wife Patricia), and by six grandchildren, Louise Stimson, Meghan, Jennifer, Elissa and Stephen Johansson, and Sydney Stimson as well his exchange student daughter Virginia Whittle of Australia. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family, his faithful employees and wonderful customers of HOSTAR Marine and the friends he has made over the years while in school, the Navy, and while living in New England and Miami Beach, FL.
