Edith Barbara (Vece) L'Heureux, of Scituate, passed away with loving family at her side on July 17, 2013 at the Newfield House in Plymouth. Loving wife of the late Charles E. L'Heureux Jr. Devoted mother of Charlene Sullivan and husband Jack of Norwell, Janet Carreau and husband David of Plymouth. Grandmother of Brandon Sullivan of Hingham, Charrette Schindler and husband Paul of Norwell, Darrielle Meckel and husband Phil of Scituate, and Craig Carreau and wife Katelyn of Plymouth. Great-grandmother of Morgan, Quinn, Colin and Burke Sullivan, Evan, Hannah, and Barbara Schindler, and James and Max Meckel. Brother of Victor Vece of CA and the late Marion Lancaster. Also survived by many nieces, nephews , friends and neighbors.
Edith attended Boston Parochial School and was a graduate of the Boston Business School with her Secretarial degree. She lived in California for several years, before moving home. For over 40 years, she worked for the Boston Herald Traveler, known well as Miss Eddy. In her later years, she worked for the Scituate Mariner, South Shore Music Circus, and the Bavarian Shop in Cohasset. Edith was devoted to her home and family. She enjoyed traveling, reading, needlework and cooking.
A Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset on Monday July 22, 2013 from 9:30, with a visitation until 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Scituate. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Edith may be made to the Scituate Etrusco Assoc., 1 Common St., Scituate, MA. 02066.
