Elizabeth M. Barrett, 80, of Duxbury died at South Shore Hospital on October 23 after an extended period of declining health. Liz was born and raised in Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1951. After her marriage, she and her husband Tom lived for a time in East Lansing, MI, and then Stanford, CA before settling in central California where they raised four children. During this time, Liz worked for many years as a Medical Tech at the Medi-Cal Field Office in Modesto, CA. After retiring in 1995 Liz and Tom returned to Massachusetts and settled in the Bay Farm Community in Duxbury. Liz, also known as "Flo", made friends easily, and enjoyed life-long friendships with friends from across the country. She was respected by family and friends for her cheerfulness, her strong spirit, and her unwavering commitment to family and friends. She is sorely missed.

Liz was predeceased by her son, Richard. She is survived by her husband Tom of Duxbury; her daughter Cathy Foley of Scituate, MA; her sons Fred of Modesto, CA and Dennis of West Valley City, UT; and 6 grandchildren. Liz's remains will be interred at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell, MA on Nov. 20 in a graveside service.
