Elizabeth Cogswell Knox, 50, died from renal cancer at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Friday, October 9, 2015. Liz Knox was an extraordinary woman with a keen mind, a quick wit, and a heart filled with love and affection for her friends and family.
Liz was born on January 14, 1965, to John and Janice Cogswell in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended Needham High School and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Framingham with a degree in English. She later studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art.
She had a diverse and successful career as a typographer, graphic designer, and educator. She served for more than 15 years in the administration of Inly School in Scituate as communications director and most recently as head of admissions. She was an active volunteer throughout her life and served as an instructor in the Godly Play program and on the vestry at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Cohasset.
Liz was a proud mother of two daughters: Phoebe, who is a student and athlete at Simmons College, and Lucy, a student and environmentalist at Phillips Exeter Academy. She is survived by her two daughters and by her partner, Paran Quigley, her parents, her sister, Ruth, and her former husband, Sam Knox.
A memorial service will be held for Liz Knox on Saturday, October 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Cohasset.
