Ellen L. (Merritt) Joseph, age 98 of Norwell, formerly of So. Weymouth, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2013. She was born on Dec. 29, 1915 in Norwell and graduated from Scituate High School in 1933. She then attended Burroughs Business School in Boston. She retired from the City of Quincy Food Services in 1981 after 30 years of service.

She was the loving mother of four children, Margery Abbott and her husband Marshall of Boynton Beach, FL., Sandra Atkinson and her husband William of Atlantis, FL., Spencer A. Joseph and his wife, Fay of Norwell, and David L. Joseph and his companion, Betty Caravallo of Marshfield, MA. She has 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at 11 am in South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA. 02043. A Private Graveside to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ellen may be made to South Shore Baptist Church Missions or Norwell Historical Society.
