Evelyn Juliet Benzoni Prescott, of Scituate formerly of Cohasset, passed away on December 24, 2013 at home with family. She was born in New York City on January 5, 1923. After graduating from Hunter College in 1945 with a degree in Mathematics, she was hired to do geological research for the oil industry. Later she worked as a business representative for the New York Telephone Company. Upon moving to New England, she enjoyed tutoring Algebra and Geometry to high school students but her most fulfilling job was being a homemaker and raising her four daughters. A 40-year resident of Cohasset, Mrs. Prescott enjoyed family activities, kayaking, hiking, reading, swimming and traveling. She spent her summers with all her grandchildren, berry picking at the family cottage on an island in Maine. She loved to gather berries as well as sea glass. A member of the Beechwood Congregational Church, she was involved in volunteer work and as a participant and leader in many Bible Studies. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd Prescott, her four daughters, Lynne Kozlowski of Norwood, MA, Dana Prescott of Gubbio, Italy, Terry Keating Marshall of Plymouth, MA, and Joan Busk of Cohasset, MA, her eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, one of whom carries her name. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at 2 pm in South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043. Visiting hours Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 from 3-6 pm at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St.(across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA. 02025.
