Francis A. Nelson, age 75, of Weymouth, formerly of Norwell, died peacefully on August 23, 2014. Beloved husband of JoAnn (Muscillo) and devoted father of Joseph F. Nelson and wife Melissa of Half Moon Bay, CA.; Cherie M. Nelson of South Weymouth, Derek A. Nelson of Marshfield and Jerel M. Nelson and wife Melinda of Carver. Adoring grandfather of Nicholas, Caitlyn, Hailey, Savannah, Zachary, and Anastasia. Beloved brother of Edna Riley and Diana Cavanaugh both of Weymouth and Carole Conserva of Rockland.  He was the son of the late Francis and Edna (Cusick) Nelson.

Francis was a US Army Veteran. During his career as a route salesman and service manager at Standard Uniform, he was a steward and active member of Teamsters Local 25.  He was the Chairman of the Commission of Disability in Norwell for 15 years. Along with spending time with his family and friends, he found great joy in sports, especially golf, the Patriots and Red Sox.

Visiting hours Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 4-7:30 pm at the McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell, MA. 02061. A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 9 am in St. Helen Church, 383 Washington Street (Rt.53), Norwell, MA. Interment Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Tumor Society at braintumor.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.
