G. Stephen Brown, MD, age 73, of Scituate passed away suddenly, but peacefully at home on Monday, December 12, 2011. Dr. Brown was the Medical Director and Chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology at Good Samaritan Cancer Center in Brockton, MA. He always said "Buildings don't treat people. People treat people." That was how he approached his job with his patients and that human touch played a great role in his patients' healing, as much as the medicine he dispensed. He was a Fellow of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. Dr. Brown was also a veteran of the US Army, serving as a doctor during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Carole. Devoted father of his sons Eric Brown and his wife Lisa of Medfield, MA, David Brownsanders and his wife Jane of Cresswell, OR, Randy Flood and wife Kelly, of McDaniel, MD, and his daughter Deanne McCue and her husband Michael of McDaniel, MD. He was also the beloved grandfather of Jamie, Aurora, Griffin, Phineas, Noah, Cian, and Cara Claire.
There will be a memorial service for Dr. Brown on Friday, December 16th, at 10:30 AM at the Congregation Sha'aray Shalom located at 1112 Main Street, Hingham, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the ROI Juan A. del Regato Fund at PO Box 418398, Boston, MA 02241-8398 in support of physicians and others in their interest in the history of radiation oncology and allied fields.
