It is with the deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary D. Rand, who departed this life on December 10, 2025. Gary was born in Weymouth, MA on March 20, 1950, Gary was the beloved husband of Margaret (Sammartano / Fitzgerald) Rand for 45 years and the devoted father of John Fitzgerald, and the devoted grandfather of Brooke, and Chloe who brought him immeasurable amount of joy.

Gary was the cherished son of the late Earl and Florance Rand, and brother of Earl, and his late sister Judy. Garys love and commitment to family will be forever missed.

A graduate of Weymouth Vocational Technical High School, Class of 68. After graduating, Gary went through a 4-year union apprenticeship training program for printing and eventually spent 40 years working in the printing industry as a Lithographer. After retiring from the printing industry Gary worked a part-time job at Curtis Liquors in Cohasset, MA.

Gary is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy), his son John Fitzgerald and wife Cheryl of Norwell, MA his granddaughter Brooke (Fitzgerald) Cook and Husband Nick, of Scituate, MA and granddaughter Chloe Fitzgerald of Scituate, MA who will continue to honor Garys legacy by living with the love and strength Gary exemplified every day.

Gary will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his humor, sharp wit, knowledge of history, the love for home and swimming pool that he would occasionally refer to as "The Resort".

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday December 17th from 3:00-6:00 p.m.at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street, Norwell, MA. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday December 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's of the Nativity Church, Scituate, MA with burial to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Scituate, MA.
