George T. Bresnahan, age 91, of Scituate. Passed away on February 23, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Virginia (Maxwell) Bresnahan. Devoted father of Susan Campbell of Scituate, Robert F. Bresnahan and wife Dorothy of West Bath, ME., Charles E. Bresnahan of Scituate, Elaine Case and husband John of Philadelphia, PA. Brother of Richard Bresnahan of Duxbury. Adored grandfather of seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bresnahan was a dedicated employee of Proctor and Gamble. In his retirement he was an active volunteer at the Foyer of Charity in Scituate. George was also an avid gardener and specialized in tomato cultivation in his expansive, raised garden beds. A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, George cheered on his teams through victory and defeat ("It's only a game", spoken through clenched teeth, was a familiar refrain during the darker moments). George had a lifelong interest in inventing and improvising all manner of household device. His "Yankee Ingenuity" served him and his extended family well over the years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting immediately prior to the Mass from 10-11 am in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment private. In lieu fo flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to the Foyer of Charity, 74 Hollett St., Scituate, MA. 02066 or the Scituate Etrusco Associates, Inc., 1 Common St., Scituate, MA. 02066.
