Retired Fire Chief George Edward Cavanagh, 75, The Villages, FL passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014. He was born in Norwell, MA and moved to The Villages from there 11 years ago. He was a Fire Chief for the Norwell Fire Dept. Chief Cavanagh was a member of the Community Improvement Council, the Story Tellers group (TALES), Massachusetts Bay Club, the Retired Old Drivers Club and past president of the Visually Impaired Persons Club in The Villages. He was chairman of the board of Health and served on many committees in the town of Norwell. Mr. Cavanagh was preceded in death by his brother Patrick Cavanagh. Survivors include his wife Cynthia S. Cavanagh, The Villages; son James Edward Cavanagh and daughter-in-law Lori Cavanagh, Plimpton, MA; daughter Debra Lee Watkins and son-in-law Robert Watkins, Quincy, MA; brother Albert Cavanagh, Hanover, MA; 3 sisters: Faye Perry, Taunton, MA; Marjorie Denham, Cuba, IL and Susan Swett, Worcester, MA.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 25, 2014 at 10 am in St. Helen Church, Rt 53, Norwell, MA.
