George H. Smith, Jr.- age 79, of Auburn, formerly of Cohasset, passed away with family by his side on July 6, 2013. Loving husband of the late Frances K. (Condito). Devoted father of George J. Smith and wife Joanne of Shrewsbury, and Joseph E. Smith of Abington. Grandfather of Justin Smith of Shrewsbury and Amanda Smith of Hingham. Great-grandfather of Alana Smith.

George was a member of Local Union 276 Plumbers. He was the youngest person to receive his Master Plumber's License in the State of Massachusetts at the time. In his retirement, George worked for over ten years at the Home Depot in Avon. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Army. As a member of the 82 ^nd Airborne, George did over 150 jumps and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. Mr. Smith rarely spoke about his services to his country in Korea, however, when he did, the stories he spoke of were truly remarkable.

A Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 12 pm, followed by a graveside service with Honors at V.A. Mass. National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA. At 2:30 pm. Visiting hours Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 6-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, Cohasset.
