Gertrude Smith Bongarzone,96. of Scituate passed away May 21, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. The wife of the late Libero Bongarzone and mother of the late Judith Bongarzone was born in Cohasset Ma and moved to Scituate 80 years ago when she married Libero.

She was a housewife with a passion for antiques and bargains. A natural caregiver she wore the title of Matriach of the family proudly. Family meant everything to her and taught that principle to many generations. For the past several years she was lovingly cared for in her home by her grandson Kevin Bongarzone and Diedre Fay.

She is survived by her son Donald Bongarzone and his wife Margo of Naples Fla, and her grandchildren Donald R Bongarzone of Plymouth, Cheryl Sargent and her husband Richard of Cohasset, Micheal Bongarzone of CA, Chuck Bongarzone of Plymouth Ma, Scott Bongarzone of Scituate, Gina Bongarzone of Rockland Ma . Amy Ayres of Ala.and daughter in law Thelma Bongarzone of Scituate.

She was proud great grandmother of Danielle, Anthony, Stephanie, Jesse, Samantha, Kayla, Jessica, Charlie, Sarah, Alison, Bryan,Tommy, Danny, and Marina. As well as great great grandmother of Brenna, Brooklyn, Mason, Andrew,Luke,Bronson ,Bradley, Blaise, and Isabella.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 am in the First Baptist Church, Country Way, Scituate. Visiting hours Friday, May 24, 2013 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Groveland Cemetery, Scituate, MA.
