Harriet H. (Heberle) "Hatsy" VanWart, age 88, of Scituate left on February 27, 2025 for another adventure. She was the wife of the late Garret F. VanWart who swung by to pick her up so they could be together forever. Hatsy was born in Rockport, MA on December 18, 1936, daughter of the late Charles T. Heberle, Jr and Bertha Hay Heberle. She was raised in Annisquam and graduated from Gloucester High School class of 1955 and Beverly Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1957. Hatsy was co-owner of the Building Center Stores of Gloucester and Essex, a Heberle family business since 1903.
Hatsy is survived by her children: Bruce G. VanWart and wife, Maya of Brownfield, ME; Ray W. VanWart and wife Victoria of Scituate, MA; Beth V. Sortin and husband Philip of Sandisfield, MA. She is also survived by her sister Margaret H. Huff and husband Donald of McLean VA, her brother Charles T. Heberle III of Corrales, NM, her granddaughter Laurel of Austin, TX, four great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy H. Grayson.
In keeping with Hatsy's wishes, there will be no funeral services and burial will be private.
