Helen Mary (Thomson) Marsden, age 85, of Plymouth, formerly of Norwell, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 24, 2011. She was the only child of the late Alfred and Alice (Mackie) Thomson, born in Quincy on November 18, 1925. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Marsden, Helen was the devoted mother of David and wife, the late Gail Marsden of Norwell, Douglas of Dallas, Texas, Bruce and wife, Grace of Lewistown, Montana, and Dorice Currie and husband, Brian of Plymouth. Helen is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Helen retired from the Town of Norwell as the Assistant Treasurer/Collector on August 26, 1985. She had formerly worked with her late husband in their business, Bay State Claims Service. They were charter members of the United Church of Christ in Norwell. Helen and Len devoted themselves to the growth and success of UCC Norwell.
Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always putting the needs of others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all, but is now with the love of her life, Len.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, Oct.31, 2011 at 11 am in the United Church of Christ, 460 Main St., Norwell, MA. Visiting hours Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 from 2-5 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center.
