IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hilda Panall
Foster
April 11, 1936 – October 24, 2024
Hilda Panall Foster passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 of Norwell, MA.
Born in 1936 to Esther and Albert Panall, Hilda grew up in Norwell, Massachusetts on a small, family farm where she became an avid horse rider, competing in local horse shows. She attended Norwell High School, graduating with honors as co-valedictorian. She later went on to the University of Massachusetts to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics and where she played trumpet in the UMass marching band.
After graduation she worked as an assistant buyer at Filenes department store in Boston and lived on Beacon Hill.
Her marriage to Howard Foster of Hingham in 1959 brought her to California, then New York, finally settling in Boxford, Massachusetts, where she raised her two children. She was a wonderful mother and took part in all her children's sports and activities. During her years on the North Shore, Hilda worked as a Home-Health Aid and was an active member of the La Salette prayer group ministry. She returned to her childhood home in Norwell in 2000 and was active in the Norwell Grange.
She loved the seashore, her dogs, lunching with friends and finding treasures at local thrift shops.
She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son Bradford, of Norwell and daughter Alison of Newton.
A funeral will be held at the Episcopal Parish of St. John the Evangelist-172 Main St., Hingham, MA on November 7th, 2024 at 11am. Burial will be immediately following at Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell, MA.
