Isabelle D. (Donilon) Martell, age 89, of Scituate, MA. died peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2014 at South Shore Hospital in the presence of family. She was born, raised and educated in Providence, RI and graduated from Classical High School.

She was an amazing lady, full of life for all her 89 years, and will be remembered for so many different activities.  Isabelle and Bob moved to Scituate MA in 1967, having lived in Simsbury CT for 20 years.  They were regular attendees and volunteers at Glastonbury Abbey and at St. Mary of the Nativity, and enjoyed working in their gardens together.  She was active with a group that served at the Pine Street Inn, played bridge several times a week with dear friends, and until just recently was part of the local bowling league.  She always had knitting with her, and countless babies were blessed to be wearing a bonnet "From the needles of Isabelle".  Her children and grandchildren will remember many dinners together followed by lovingly-made angel food cake, and rousing games of dominoes.  She was an adventurous traveler, and her motto was "never turn down an invitation", which took her all over the US and many countries in Europe.

Isabelle was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Robert J. Martell. She was the devoted mother of Jeffrey Martell and wife  Pamela of Scituate; Stephen Martell and wife Brenda of Old Town, ME.; Paula Marshall and husband Michael of Shippensburg, PA; and Timothy Martell and wife Carmela of Scituate. Loving grandmother of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 3-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St.(across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment at the V.A. Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 2:30 pm after the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Isabelle may be made to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 CJC Hwy, Scituate, MA. 02066.
