J. Richard Hartigan of Norwell, MA on September 17, 2023 at the age of 91 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife Genevieve; daughters Jane O'Connor (David) of Needham. Martha Hartigan (Cathy Breckenridge) of Taunton, and cherished grandfather to David and Caroline O'Connor. Richard was an active member of his community and served as a member of the Norwell Select Board, Advisory Board, as well as many volunteer roles at St. Helens Church and Resurrection Church. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, September 23 from 8:30-9:30 at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Parish, 1057 Main Street, Hingham, MA. Interment at Stetson Meadows Cemetery, Norwell, MA.
