James J. deAlmeida, age 95 of Scituate, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2012. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Army 26th Yankee Division and later going into the Army Air Corps, where he served as a radio operator on B-24's. James loved to sail for many years and was a member of the original Satuit Water Front Club.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Reilly) deAlmeida and his children, Susan Mullen of Billings, Montana, James deAlmeida, Jr of Scituate and Donna deAlmeida of Cohasset. He was the grandfather of Kimberly Mullen of Plymouth and Thomas Barabe of Florida.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor. Interment Cudworth Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in James' memory may be made to the Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Cir., Norwell, MA. 02061.
