James J. Fitzpatrick, 93, of Scituate MA and Kearsage, NH passed away peacefully Sunday February 15th surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Marion and James Fitzpatrick of Watertown; and brother of Marie Fitzpatrick of Cohasset and Eugene Fitzpatrick of Cumberland ME; predeceased by brothers John and Paul Fitzpatrick and sister Kathryn Fitzpatrick. He graduated from Boston College High School '39 and Harvard University '44. Drafted into the US Army in 1941 and served as First Lieutenant in the 79th Division 314th Regiment. Landed on Utah beach on D-day plus 3. Earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and a Battlefield Commission.
He was a partner in Rhodius Inc of Boston and later was owner and Treasurer of Bearings Specialty of Canton. Jim served as President of the Scituate Youth Center, CCD Teacher at St Francis Xavier Cabrini Church, President of the Board of Trustees of Thayer Academy, Commodore of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, and long time member of Hatherly Country Club.
Jim is survived by his wife Joan H (McConnell) Fitzpatrick and daughters Polly Fish and husband Gregory, the late Katharine (Kate) Fitzpatrick, Joan Fitzpatrick, Nancy Friedman and husband David, sons James Fitzpatrick Jr. and wife Sally and Peter Fitzpatrick and wife Ellen; his twelve grandchildren Alexander Fish and his wife Mary, Amanda Fish, Lucy Ramseyer and her husband Logan, Audrey Fitzpatrick, Kiely, David, and Jack Turgeon; Sam and Anna Friedman; Peter, Caroline, and Charlotte Fitzpatrick, and two great grandchildren Teddy and Royce Fish.
Visiting Hours will be held at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset on Thursday, February 19, from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 20 at 11:00AM at St Anthony Parish in Cohasset.
