James MacIntyre Kickham of Marshfield died peacefully in his sleep at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital on October 31, 2022. Jim was born in Boston on January 23, 1941 and raised in Jamaica Plain and summered in Scituate.
He is survived by his loving wife Erika (Houghton), his children, James and his wife Leslie of Westport CT, Sarah and her partner Peter Migliorini of New York NY, Joshua and his wife Caitlin of Cumberland RI, Alexander of Boston MA, and Christina and her partner Richard Parlee of Weymouth MA; his stepdaughters, Leah Calnan of Marshfield MA, and Erin and her husband Christopher Young of Whitman MA; his grandchildren Sawyer, Robert, Reilly, Emma, Lilian and Ciera; sister Penelope Reilly, his brother Michael; and dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Charles and Margaret Kickham, sisters Martha Sullivan, Janice Walwood, and Margaret Grady, and brother Dr. Charles Kickham.
Jim was a graduate of Boston College High School, Fairfield University and Suffolk Law School. After law school Jim was a Navy Reservist and received a direct commission as a Lieutenant in the JAG Corps Reserves. While serving as Lieutenant Commander DR, he was a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney. Jim then moved to private practice and joined his cousins at Kickham Law Offices in Brookline where, for more than half a century, his clients benefitted from his rational and thoughtful approach to legal issues.
Jim was at his best, however, when he was spending time with his large and loving circle of family and friends. He was known for his generous spirit, outgoing personality, and unconventional sense of humor.
