Obituary

James R. Logar, Jr. passed away on August 4, 2025, after a long illness. He was 77 years old.

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Kate, and their two children: Nathaniel Logar of Venice, CA and Elizabeth Wasmer of Kingsville, MD, as well as his son-in-law, Jesse Wasmer.  Jim's three grandchildren, Samuel and Nicholas Wasmer, and Winter Logar brought him so much joy and he enjoyed every moment with them.

Born on July 7, 1948, to James and Dolores Logar in Chicago, Illinois, Jim was the oldest of five children. He is survived by his siblings: Margaret (Richard) Thompson, Steve Logar, Laura Peer, and Peter (Yvonne) Logar, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was very proud of his family and loved to travel to see them.

Jim grew up in Rochester, New York, and attended McQuaid Jesuit High School (1966). He went on to Boston College, where he met Kate, and they married in 1971. Jim earned his law degree from Suffolk University in 1975, and he practiced law in Quincy, MA for nearly fifty years.

Jim and Kate raised their kids and made their home in Scituate, MA, where they've stayed for 48 years. Jim's deep love for history, particularly military history, was matched only by his enthusiasm for music, old movies, and good food. Whether it was a spontaneous mountain hike, a cross-country ski trip that turned into a daylong adventure, documenting every meal on vacation, or getting lost in the nuances of music or history, Jim's curiosity and love for these simple pleasures were unparalleled.

An active and dedicated member of his community, Jim began serving on the Scituate Conservation Commission during the blizzard of '78 and continued for many years. He was a loyal member of the Democratic Town Committee and volunteered at Scituate Town elections.

Jim's family and friends, and community will miss his wit, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to loved ones and the causes he cared for.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11am at St. Anthony of Padua Church-1 Summer Street Cohasset. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Immediately following the funeral Mass Jim's family extends an invitation to join them for a reception at the St. Anthony's church Parish Center Hall for continued fellowship from 12-2pm.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to the North and South Rivers Watershed Association at: www.nsrwa.org or GBH, Boston at: www.wgbh.org
