James Henry Walsh, III, of Cohasset passed away at his home on March 9, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his beloved wife, Annellen, of 56 years and family. He was born August 11, 1932, in Brighton. He was a longtime resident of Cohasset, MA and Vero Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife, Annellen and their three children, James IV of Scituate, Ellenann Haughey and her husband Christopher of Wellesley, Richard and his wife Jennifer of Hingham and 6 grandchildren, Caroline, Christy, Conor, Jay, Cotter and Cormac. He is also survived by his sister Ann Marie Healey and her husband Dr. Stephen Healey.
Mr. Walsh was a graduate of Boston Latin School in 1949, College of Holy Cross in 1953 and Northeastern (Summa Cum Laude) in 1963, and he served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Korean War. As a member of Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic, he traveled worldwide with NATO. When he returned from service he went to work at the family business.
Mr. Walsh was Chairman of Walsh Brothers Inc., a leading institutional construction firm founded in Cambridge, MA in 1901. He was well known for building and restoring some of the most recognized buildings in New England and highly respected as the industry's trusted gentleman. During his 60 years at Walsh Brothers, he was honored with numerous industry awards, including Build America, honors from the Academy of Arts and Sciences and was the first to be inducted into the AGC's Construction Hall of Fame. To celebrate the company's 90th birthday, he was invited to conduct the Boston Pops.
Mr. Walsh has served on the board of trustees at Children's Hospital Boston and
multiple banks and organizations. He was a member of Knights of Sepulchre, the President's Council for the College of the Holy Cross and was also a generous supporter of numerous charitable organizations. Mr. Walsh was a member of Cohasset Golf Club, John's Island Club and Longwood Cricket Club.

Visiting hours Sunday, March 13 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony's Church), Cohasset.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to St. Anthony's Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset , MA. 02025 or to Walsh Bros. Foundation, 75 Arlington St., Boston, MA. 02116.
Service Information
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10 am in St. Anthony's Church, Cohasset.
A Private Interment will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
