Jane Pickering
Ninde
July 21, 1950 – August 13, 2025
Jane Pickering Ninde, a beloved resident of Cohasset, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 75. Known for her resilient spirit and gentle nature, Jane leaves behind a legacy of warmth, positivity, and kindness that touched the lives of many in her community. Born on July 21, 1950 to Daniel Murray Ninde and Ann Paula Ninde (MacDonald), Jane's early years were shaped by the natural beauty and rich history of her hometown, Durham, New Hampshire. Her lifelong passion for animals, nature, and history began there, as she spent countless hours exploring the outdoors, riding horses, sailing, and delving into stories of the past. These interests remained close to her heart throughout her life, often reflected in her thoughtful conversations and adventures. For the past 40 years, Jane called the picturesque village of Cohasset her home. Jane built a career at the forefront of information technology in Boston's financial service industry and in government. She worked in various programming, project, and production support roles where her sharp mind and dedication earned her respect among her colleagues. During this chapter of her life, she spent countless hours with "boat buddies" she met on the stern of the commuter boat to Boston. In her later years, she found joy working at Stop & Shop, where her friendly demeanor brightened the days of customers and coworkers alike. Jane's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her daughter, Elisa Smiley (Ninde Jerome), her son-in-law, Glenn Smiley, and their two children, Callum and Sloane, of Hingham MA, and her niece, Gretchen Joslin of Golden CO. She is predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Ann Ninde, and her sister, Margaret Purcell (Ninde). Jane will be missed by many in the community which embraced and supported her in friendship during her later years. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. A celebration of Jane's life will be held in the coming months.
