Janet Day Malloy (96) on May 14, 2026. Resided in St. John's, Florida & Cohasset, MA. Born & raised in Brookline, MA the daughter of the late Anna M. (Howe) & John Henry Day. A graduate of Brookline High School & Mt. Ida College where she was an equestrian and a cheerleader. The Day family summered in Scituate in Sand Hills & Minot, where Janet grew up playing golf & tennis at Hatherly Country Club.
Janet married William F. (Bill) Malloy of Brookline, MA in September of 1952 at St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate Harbor. They settled in Minot where they raised their six children, before moving to Cohasset in 1978. Janet & Bill spent the winters at Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida until Bill's passing in 1993. Janet remained in their Cohasset home until 2021, when she relocated to St. Augustine, FL to live with her son Larry.
An avid golfer, Janet played on many teams for Cohasset Golf Club, Hatherly Country Club & Quail Ridge Country Club She loved walking, swimming, bowling & going to Tuesday night bingo at Quail Ridge with her friends. She volunteered with the Social Service League of Cohasset delivering Meals on Wheels, working at the Flu Clinics & at the Cohasset Food Pantry.
Janet's pride & joy were her 10 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. She took absolute delight in going to all of their baseball, softball, tennis, golf, hockey games & Irish step dancing competitions. She especially loved going to the barn & going to all of the horse shows.
Predeceased by her husband of 41 years - William F. Malloy (Bill) Janet is survived by their six children: Jane (Martin) Corry, Ellen A. Malloy, William F. (Dianne) Malloy, Lawrence G. Malloy, Karen M. Deckel (David Shaker) & Janet (Mark) Rattenbury.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11am on Friday June 26, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Cohasset. Interment at the Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset will be Private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cohasset Food Pantry or a Charity of one's choice.
