Janet (Mercer) Sylvester, age 93, of Norwell, passed away on Sept. 13, 2014. Wife of the late Robert S. Sylvester; mother of Robert S. Sylvester Jr., Ginnie (Bo) Sylvester Renz, and predeceased by Patricia Sylvester Fournier. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jinny was a regular visitor at Dunkin Donuts, The Eatery, General Store, and Savers, all in Assinippi. She was very personable and friendly and loved music, wrote many poems and was a great story teller.

A graveside service will be held in Church Hill Cemetery, at the corner of River St. and Church St. in Norwell. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Church Hill Cemetery Corp, 34 Church St., Norwell, MA. 02061 or to American Red Cross of MA., 139 Main St., Cambridge, MA. 02142.
