Joan Elizabeth (Emanuello) Meallo, age 54, of Scituate, formerly of Cohasset, passed away on November 30, 2013 with family at her side. As a tennis member of Hatherly Country Club and Scituate Racquet Club Joanie loved and made many dear friends. She was the Number One Fan of the Notre Dame Academy Golf Team and enjoyed her position as a Marketing Specialist for The Shoe Market in Hingham. To meet Joanie was to be blessed by her gentleness, warmth and grace. She loved her family with a heart of gold, and spread that love with her kind words, a loving card, or a knitted sweater. She embraced her life and her friends with an open heart and a smile.
Joan was the beloved daughter of Marjorie (Miller) Emanuello and the late Paul Emanuello. Joan was the loving wife of Gregory Meallo and the cherished mother of Lindsey Meallo. She was the beloved sister of Lynda Southerland of Quincy, Judy Jeal and husband Robert of Coventry, CT, Paula Dion of Pembroke, Paul Emanuello and wife Lily of Cohasset. Joan was also the daughter in law of Albert and Paula Meallo of Cohasset, and leaves behind ten nieces and nephews along with four great nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Joanie's family would like to thank the medical professionals whose role as doctors went far beyond medical treatment as they became friends who loved and guided her in her battle against colon cancer: Dr. Roger Pompeo, Dr. Tom Kenney, Dr. Chris Kenney, Dr. Michael Curry, Dr. Bob Driscoll, Dr. Jim Everett, and Dr. Anne Roberge. Through their outstanding care and support, we were blessed with more time to spend with Joanie for which we are so grateful.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset, followed by reception at the Parish Hall. Internment private and visiting hours omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Joan may be made to the Meallo Family Education Fund, c/o Rockland Trust Bank, Attn: C.
