John (Jack) Buckley, 83, of Cohasset passed away on August 25, 2022, just two weeks after the passing of his beloved wife of 60 years, Cleida. Jack was the youngest of seven children born to Daniel Joseph (D.J.) and Florence (Paten) Buckley of Canton and then Cohasset. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joe, Ray, George, and sister Marie. He leaves behind his brothers Al and Paul of Cohasset and his six children Michael (Lisa) of Scituate, Maureen (James Wirth) of Petaluma, CA, Jeanine Perrone (Marc) of Cohasset, Peter (Lisa) of Cohasset, Liz Kondrat (Chris) of Cohasset, and Justin (Kelvie) of Seattle, WA, and his 19 grandchildren Hannah, Sam, Adam, James, Audrey, Kevin, Jillian, Ryan, Andrew, Oliver, Cole, Bridget, Payton, Ian, Christian, Jack, Kellan, George, and Clara.
Jack attended Archbishop Williams High School, where he met the love of his life, Cleida Cushing. He earned his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and then his MBA from Suffolk University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in France during the Cold War. Jack returned from deployment one week prior to his wedding to Cleida in 1962.
Along with his brothers, he ran the Buckley Corporation working as a job analyst. He was also an executive officer at the Building Association of Greater Boston (BAGB).
Jack was devoted to Cleida, especially during her illness. He also treasured his children and grandchildren. In his younger years, Jack was a talented equestrian who particularly excelled in show jumping. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors either in the woods or in his garden and he instilled this love in his children. His grandchildren will always remember his silly Papa jokes and the time they shared at the Old Coach Road home that he built for his family.
Visiting Hours for Jack will be held Thursday, September 1 from 9-10:30 am at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA. A funeral will follow at 11 am at St Anthony Church in Cohasset. A service at Woodside Cemetery will follow the Mass.
