John Arthur Cummings of Norwell, Massachusetts, passed away on November 4, 2025 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Patricia (Troy) Cummings, and the devoted father of Ann Marie Cummings and Jennifer (Cummings) Campbell and her husband, Mark Campbell. He was the cherished "Papa" to his grandchildren Bradley, Aiden, Grace, Liam, and Jacob. John leaves behind his sister Janet Leach, brother in law Brad Leach and many nieces and nephews.

John dedicated 46 years of his career as a Civil Engineer with the Massachusetts Highway Department. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Outside of work, John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting the casino, having family dinners and sitting on his porch enjoying the sun. Known affectionately by many as "Papa" or "Uncle Big," he was the laughter you heard from the next room, especially when there was a good Dad joke, he had waiting to tell everyone.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at McNamara- Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street Norwell, MA 02061. A private burial will take place at a later date.
