John W. "Jack" O'Brien, of Scituate, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Norma (Nestor) O'Brien and devoted father of Kathleen Giacchetti and husband, Robert of So. Weymouth, John O'Brien and wife Susan of Scituate, Maureen Schindler and husband Gerald of Norwell, Erin Mankavech and husband Richard of Marshfield, and Gerald O'Brien and wife Suzanne of Scituate. Jack was the adoring PaPa of Robert, Jennifer, Johnny, Patrick, Meghan, Ricky, Billy, Gerald, Nikki, Brian, Madelyn, and Ella.

Mr. O'Brien served in the US Navy, during World War II, Seaman 1st Class. He worked proudly as a State Trooper with the Massachusetts State Police, retiring as Lieutenant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor, MA. Visiting hours Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 from 3-7 pm in the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (corner of Summer St., across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Private.
