Obituary

John "Jack" James Mutrie, Age 73, of Milton, formerly of Scituate passed peacefully with family at his side on November 27, 2016. Beloved husband of Joyce (Anglin) Mutrie for over 50 years, and devoted father of John J. Mutrie Jr. and wife, Kristine of Overland Park, KS, Jeffrey P. Mutrie of Scituate, Debra K. Troderman and husband, Joshua of Brookline. Brother of the late Joseph Mutrie of Boston and cherished grandfather "Poppy" of Eden and Eli Troderman. Born in Boston, Mr. Mutrie was educated in Boston Catholic schools, served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, and worked at the Boston Globe as a sales executive for over 35 years. He lived in Scituate for most of his life where he coached his children's sports teams, enjoyed fishing on his boat with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren. A Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church) on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 9 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor, MA. Visiting hours Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 from 4 - 8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St., COHASSET. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
