John R. (Biff) Mulcahy, age 85, of Scituate, died peacefully at home on August 29, 2011.
Biff was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II, and at the age of 17 was stationed in the South Pacific on the USS Terry. He was employed at the Baystate Milling Company. He also aided in the development of the Sports Information Center, a statistical company for Major League Baseball's American League. Biff was a much respected golfer and loved sharing his knowledge of the game with others. He was a partner of Lakeville Country Club, member of Charles River Country Club and longtime member of Hatherly Country Club in Scituate. Loved by both young and old, he was a positive faithful mentor and an example not only to his family but to many friends. John was the beloved father of Judith Mulcahy, Linda Legge Adams and husband John, Ellen Mulcahy, and John R. Mulcahy Jr. and wife Patricia, grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of five, all of Scituate.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 10 Summer St., Cohasset. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment Cudworth Cemetery, Scituate.
