John Joseph Pilalas, age 67, of Norwell, passed away on November 21, 2013 of Alzheimer's. Born Sept. 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne (Karpoff) Pilalas. John was the beloved husband for 35 years of Lisa (Franco) Pilalas, and the devoted father of Joshua Pilalas and his wife Patricia, and Sara Pilalas, all of Norwell. He was the adoring grandfather of Nicholas, Alexis, and Joshua, Jr., all of Norwell. He was the brother of Frances Karas of Norwell and Michael Pilalas of Pembroke. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Army. He worked for and retired from Comcast in 2011 after many years. What made John the happiest was being "Gaga" to his three grandchildren; being one of them and teaching them at the same time. The family wants to give a special thank you to the staff at the Jordan Hospital Senior Behavioral Unit for the respect and dignity they afforded John and his family for the last three weeks of his life.

Visiting hours Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 from 3-7 pm in the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, followed by a funeral service at 7 pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor John may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eight Ave. 7th Floor, New York, NY. 10001.
