Joseph I. Cotter, III, age 72, of Scituate, passed away on January 2, 2022 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Sherry  (Sullivan) Cotter, and devoted father of Michael Cotter and wife Meghan of Scituate, and Courtney Leuchte and husband Eric of Scituate. Adoring grandfather of Bryce and Eve Cotter and Emery, Sean, and Nora Leuchte. Brother of Kevin Cotter of Boston, Richard Cotter of Dennis, Mary Cotter of Stoughton, William Cotter of Stoughton, and Patricia Bismore of New Hampshire. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe was a long time Scituate resident. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Air Force. Joe worked as a Police Officer with the Federal Protective Service (Homeland Security).

Private services will be held at the VA Mass National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
