Obituary

Joseph (Joe) A. Litchfield, age 60, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021.  Joe grew up in Scituate and lived most of his adult life in Cohasset and Hull.  He is the son of the late Marsh Litchfield and the late Pauline (Laugelle) Litchfield.  He is survived by his brother Martin McGinn and his wife Marjorie of Marshfield; his brother Peter Litchfield and his wife Linda (Curley) of Cohasset; his brother John Litchfield of Weymouth; his sister Beth-Ann Litchfield of Hingham and his sister Laura Beth Howe of Weymouth.  He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Shannon (McGinn) Crowley of Marshfield; David McGinn of Pembroke; Brian Litchfield of Cohasset; Kacy (Litchfield) Brown of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Colby Litchfield of Cohasset; Taylor Litchfield of Marshfield; Jenna Henderson and Keely Henderson of Hingham; Tyler Howe of Portland, ME; Brendan Howe of Boston and Travis Howe of Indiana.

Joe was outgoing, gregarious and made friends wherever he went.  He most certainly had the gift of gab. He loved the ocean and spent many years lobstering.  He also had a talent for gardening and worked landscaping when he was not on the ocean.  He loved being outdoors; winter, spring, summer and fall and enjoyed many outdoor activities during his life.  He had a great love of fishing and quite a knack for it, both salt and fresh water.  Joe also had an immense appreciation for many musical genres and played the guitar.  He had the distinctive ability to hear a song, pick up his guitar and play it.   Joe also had a remarkable aptitude to recall facts, information and trivia of all sorts.  He shared all of these gifts with his family, friends and acquaintances.  Most always, you could see him wearing a smile and sharing his optimism. He had many friends. Joe loved his family, immediate and extended, and was well-loved.
