Joseph M. Young, age 91, of Chelsea and formerly from Hanover passed away at Mass. General Hospital on July 3, 2011 after a short illness. Joseph was a WWII Veteran. He served in the Army (1938-1941) 27th Infantry stationed in Hawaii. He served in the Coast Guard (1942-1945) where he was stationed on a U Boat hunting ship during the war. He worked for many years at the Watertown Arsenal.
After retiring, he went on to work for the Town Of Hanover. He was devoted to his family and truly believed in the power of prayer throughout his life. He was a lifelong Catholic.
Joseph is survived by his children: Cathy Young, Joseph A. Young, Terence Young and Nora Carlton. His grandchildren: Beth and Nancy Malabarba, Erin and Keri Young, Richard and James Young, Sara Connelly, Keven and Corinne Young, Michael and Rachel Carlton. He has 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Hanover on Friday, July 15 at 11 AM followed by a burial at the Hanover Centre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory to the Town of Pembroke c/o Skate Park Committee, 100 Center St., Pembroke, MA, 02359.
