Josephine R. (McNicholas) Parnell, age 81, of Scituate, formerly of Belmont, died peacefully Friday, August 6, 2010 at Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate with family by her side. Josephine was a longtime member of the Scituate Beach Association and a Registered Nurse.

She was the wife of the late John V. Parnell and the beloved mother of Susan Hodgkins of North East Harbor, Maine, Maureen Callis-Banks of Newbern, N.C., Kathryn Hendrickson of Scituate, Nancy Reardon of Scituate, Robert T. of Guilford, CT., John V. of Hanover, and Charles S. of Marshfield. She was the devoted grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Eileen Darcey of Wakefield, RI., Carol Vogel of Georgia, and Kathryn Schlich of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her brother-in-law, Thomas Parnell of Maine.

Service Information

A Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. (across from St. Anthony's Church), Cohasset on Tuesday, August 10 at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate Harbor.

Interment Private.
